Today Eli, a student, went to the garden to take pictures. He saw that some Hawaiian Chili Peppers were turning red. He also saw that there are some squash growing. There was no squash growing in that bed before, but now there is.
We believe it is important for students to have real life experiences that utilize a variety of technical skills in addition to academic skills. We believe the Greenhouse Project at Maui Waena will be a powerful platform for our students to learn many lifelong lessons such as caring for their island, their community, neighborhood, and their school.
